Yorkshire and Lincolnshire recruitment specialists Staff Finders say the demand for skilled workers remains high despite the country now being a week into it second national lockdown.
The business, which has offices in Hull and Scunthorpe, is urging job-seekers to contact its recruitment specialists now as it is currently recruiting for joiners, welders, general production operatives, fork-lift truck drivers, labourers, plumbers and warehouse managers.
Due to current restrictions in the current lockdown, those interested must now register online or call to arrange an appointment.
But Director Gizela Fiutowska stressed that despite the current restrictions, there are still companies recruiting across the region and ready to take on new staff.
“There may be a lot of uncertainty due to Covid-19 but in recent weeks we have been tasked with filling many roles for employers in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire because they are busy and they have orders to meet,” she said.
“It was why we added an experienced recruiter in Bozena Wojcik-Harwood to support local businesses and candidates in Scunthorpe. “We are continually being asked to help fill roles as production operatives as employers know they are heading into busy periods of the year, and unlike the last lockdown, these businesses are able to continue production as they have Covid-19 secure policies in place.
“Whilst many roles may be temporary positions to begin with, we know that a large percentage can turn into full-time jobs, so they represent good opportunities for people.”
Amongst the employers to turn to Staff Finders in recent weeks have been Wren Kitchens, which is in need of shop floor workers, Brandesburton-based Premier Modular, which is recruiting skilled joiners, and local authorities.
“We’re finding a lot of demand across the manufacturing and construction sectors,” added Ms Fiutowska.
“There is high demand for skilled workers such as electricians, plumbers and joiners. We can find jobs for people with those skillsets quickly, and in fact, at present many employers are finding it hard to fill such roles because the people with those skills are not applying.
“Whilst there has been a great deal of talk about job losses as a result of Covid-19, people with hands on, trained skills are still in high demand, and that is why we are actively seeking candidates for employers now and urging people to register their details with us.”
Staff Finders, was founded more than 25 years ago and works in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, automotive, industrial and the care home sector.
It mainly recruits locally for employers but also, when required, recruits from other towns and cities and provides assistance for those who need to relocate and find accommodation. It also offers transport to and from its offices to work sites for workers when able to do so.
In recent times it has also specifically recruited from abroad for employers who have struggled to fill job vacancies, staging dedicated jobs fairs on behalf of UK based companies.
“We go the extra mile for the companies which turn to us to find them suitable workers,” added Ms Fiutowska.
“We have recently installed face-scanning clocking in machines for staff at a number of companies which has given them a non-contact system which calculates the correct hours of work, for unlimited numbers of shifts with automatic deductions for lateness or people leaving early.
“It gives employers live attendance figures on their systems and is just another example of us going the extra mile to help the businesses which turn to us for reliable staff, and support from our team.”
The Staff Finders’ head office in Baker Street Hull, and its Scunthorpe office in Laneham Street, are currently only seeing people by appointment due to lockdown regulations.
